This medicine has antacid effect to suppress gastric acid. It also increases intestinal osmotic pressure to gather water from intestine wall, softens/expands intestinal content and gives dilative stimulation to the intestine, consequently promoting defecation.
It is usually used for antacid and improvement of symptoms in gastric/duodenal ulcer, gastritis, upper gastrointestinal dysfunction and for constipation and preventing calcium oxalate urolithiasis development.

It is usually used for antacid and improvement of symptoms in gastric/duodenal ulcer, gastritis, upper gastrointestinal dysfunction and for constipation and preventing calcium oxalate urolithiasis development.

Usage/Dosage

Gastric/duodenal ulcer, gastritis, upper gastrointestinal dysfunction: In general, for adults, take 0.5 to 1.0 g daily in several divided doses.
Constipation: In general, for adults, take 2 g daily in three divided doses before or after meals, or once at bedtime.
Prevention of calcium oxalate urolithiasis development: In general, for adults, take 0.2 to 0.6 g daily with ample water.
In any case, the dosage may be adjusted according to age and symptoms of the patients. Strictly follow the instructions.
If you miss a dose, do not take the missed dose and follow your regular dosing schedule. You should never take two doses at one time.
If you accidentally take more than your prescribed dose, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor instructs you to do so.
Keep out of the reach of children. Store away from direct sunlight, heat and moisture.
Discard the remainder. Do not store them.

Cautions

If you have previously experienced any allergic reactions (itch, rash, etc.) by any medicines.
If you have renal impairment, cardiac dysfunction, diarrhea or hypermagnesemia.
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
If you are taking any other medicinal products. (Some medicines may interact to enhance or diminish medicinal effects. Beware of over-the-counter medicines and dietary supplements as well as other prescription medicines.)
This medicine may cause hypercalcemia due to increasing renal reabsorption of calcium. DO NOT drink large amounts of milk while taking this medicine.

Contraindication

The most commonly reported adverse reactions include diarrhea. If any of these symptoms occur, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
The symptoms described below are rarely seen as initial symptoms of the adverse reactions indicated in brackets. If any of these symptoms occur, stop taking this medicine and see your doctor immediately.
nausea/vomiting, decreased blood pressure, muscle weakness[hypermagnesemia]
