Description
This medicine delays digestion/absorption of carbohydrate by suppressing the actions of digestive enzymes that degrade carbohydrate, thereby suppressing rapid increases in blood glucose levels after meals.
It is usually used to improve postprandial hyperglycemia in patients with diabetes mellitus or to suppress onset of type 2 diabetes mellitus in patients with abnormal glucose tolerance.

Effect/Efficacy
This medicine delays digestion/absorption of carbohydrate by suppressing the actions of digestive enzymes that degrade carbohydrate, thereby suppressing rapid increases in blood glucose levels after meals.
It is usually used to improve postprandial hyperglycemia in patients with diabetes mellitus or to suppress onset of type 2 diabetes mellitus in patients with abnormal glucose tolerance.
Usage/Dosage
For improvement of postprandial hyperglycemia in patients with diabetes mellitus: In general, for adults, take 1 tablet (0.2 mg of the active ingredient) at a time, three times a day immediately before each meal. If its effect is insufficient, the dosage may be increased up to 1.5 tablets (0.3 mg) at a time.
For suppression of onset of type 2 diabetes mellitus in patients with abnormal glucose tolerance: In general, for adults, take 1 tablet (0.2 mg of the active ingredient) at a time, three times a day immediately before each meal.
In any case, strictly follow the instructions.
You can also moisten the tablet with saliva on your tongue, then crush it lightly with your tongue, and swallow the tablet with saliva.
If you miss a dose, skip the missed dose and take a dose immediately before the next meal. You should never take two doses at one time.
If you accidentally take more than your prescribed dose, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor instructs you to do so.
Cautions
Contraindication
The most commonly reported adverse reactions include diarrhea, flatus, abdominal bloating, rash, itch and photosensitivity. If any of these symptoms occur, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
The symptoms described below are rarely seen as initial symptoms of the adverse reactions indicated in brackets. If any of these symptoms occur, stop taking this medicine and see your doctor immediately.
- lassitude, a sense of hunger, sweating [hypoglycemia]
- persistent abdominal pain, vomiting, abdominal bloating [intestinal obstruction]
- general malaise, loss of appetite, yellow discoloration of the skin and the white of eyes [fulminant hepatitis, serious liver dysfunction, jaundice]
- consciousness disorder, flapping tremor of hands [worsening of hyperammonemia in patients with hepatic cirrhosis]
