Description

It is usually used to treat herpes simplex, herpes zoster and varicella and to prevent recurrence of genital herpes.

Effect/Efficacy

This medicine suppresses the growth of herpes simplex/varicella/herpes zoster viruses.
It is usually used to treat herpes simplex, herpes zoster and varicella and to prevent recurrence of genital herpes.

Usage/Dosage

Cautions

If you have previously experienced any allergic reactions (itch, rash, etc.) to any medicines.
If you have renal disease.
If you are receiving hemodialysis..
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
If you are taking any other medicinal products. (Some medicines may interact to enhance or diminish medicinal effects. Beware of over-the-counter medicines and dietary supplements as well as other prescription medicines.)
Please take a larger amount of water than usual while you are on this medicine. However, if you have been instructed to restrict fluid intake, please consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
This medicine may cause disturbance of consciousness. Take extra care when operating dangerous machinery, such as when driving a car.
Keep out of the reach of children. Store away from direct sunlight, heat and moisture.
Discard the remainder. Do not store them.

Contraindication

The most commonly reported adverse reactions include headache, decreased consciousness including sleepiness, abdominal pain, nausea, diarrhea, rash, hives, itch, and photosensitivity. If any of these symptoms occur, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
The symptoms described below are rarely seen as initial symptoms of the adverse reactions indicated in brackets. If any of these symptoms occur, stop taking this medicine and see your doctor immediately.
breathing difficulty, angioedema, generalized flush [anaphylactic shock, anaphylaxis]
fever, general malaise, bleeding tendency [pancytopenia, agranulocytosis, thrombocytopenia, disseminated intravascular coagulation, thrombocytopenic purpura]
edema, decrease of urine output, headache [acute renal failure]
disturbance of consciousness (coma), hallucination, convulsion [neuropsychiatric symptom]
fever, erythema, hyperemia of the eye [toxic epidermal necrolysis, Stevens-Johnson syndrome]
