This medicine blocks calcium inflow into cells and consequently dilates constricted vessels to decrease blood pressure. It also dilates coronary arteries of the heart to prevent developing anginal attacks.
It is usually used to treat hypertension and angina pectoris.

Usage/Dosage
-
General dosage is as follows:
■ Hypertension :
For adults, take 1/2 to 1 tablet (2.5 to 5 mg of amlodipine) at a time, once a day.
The dosage may be adjusted according to symptoms of the patient but the dosage may be increased up to 2 tablets (10 mg) at a time, once a day, if the effect is insufficient.
For children over 6 years old, take 1/2 tablet (2.5 mg) at a time, once a day.
The dosage may be adjusted according to age, body weight and symptoms of the patient.
DO NOT exceed the daily maximum dosage, 1 tablet (5 mg) .
■ Angina pectoris :
For adults, take 1 tablet (5 mg of amlodipine) at a time, once a day.
The dosage may be adjusted according to symptoms of the patient.
Strictly follow the instructions in any case.
If you miss a dose, take a dose as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and follow your regular dosing schedule. You should never take two doses at one time.
If you accidentally take more than your prescribed dose, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor instructs you to do so.

Contraindication
-
● The most commonly reported adverse reactions are following symptoms. If any of these symptoms occur, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
- edema, glow (feverish, facial flushing, etc.), palpitation, dizziness/light headedness, headache/dull headache, rash, itch, hives, photosensitivity, erythema multiform, vasculitis, angioedema and gingival overgrowth
● The symptoms described below are rarely seen as initial symptoms of the adverse reactions indicated in brackets. If any of these symptoms occur, stop taking this medicine and see your doctor immediately.
- general malaise, loss of appetite, yellowing of the skin and the whites of the eyes [fulminant hepatic failure, liver dysfunction, jaundice]
- subcutaneous/nasal/gum bleeding, sore throat, high fever [agranulocytosis, leukopenia, thrombocytopenia]
- bradycardia, dizziness [atrioventricular block]
- muscle pain in limbs, lassitude, reddish brown urine [rhabdomyolysis]
Consult with your doctor or pharmacist if you notice any symptoms of concern other than those listed above.
