This medicine shows specific and reversible immunosuppressive effect for lymphocytes and suppresses abnormal immunoreaction by mainly suppressing activation of T-helper cells.
It is usually used to treat Behcet's disease (if there is an eye symptom) and other noninfective uveitis (limited to noninfective uveitis which existing treatments are insufficient and are in intermediate or posterior activity with fear of reduced visual acuity), psoriasis vulgaris (if eruption is more than 30% of the whole body or refractory), pustular psoriasis, psoriatic erythroderma, arthropathic psoriasis, aplastic anemia, pure red cell aplasia, nephrotic syndrome (if frequent recurrence type or steroid resistance), general type myasthenia gravis (if steroid is insufficient or it is difficult by adverse reaction in treatment after thymectomy) and atopic dermatitis (patient which existing treatments are insufficient).

Usage/Dosage

Behcet's disease and other noninfective uveitis: In general, take 2.5 mg of the active ingredient /kg of the body weight (125 mg for 50 kg body weight) at a time twice a day. The dosage will be decreased or increased 1 to 2 mg/kg of the body weight (50 to 100 mg for 50 kg) a day every 1 month. The standard maintenance dosage is 3 to 5 mg/kg of the body weight (150 to 250 mg for 50 kg) a day. The dosage may be adjusted according to the symptoms.
Psoriasis: In general, take 2.5 mg of the active ingredient /kg of the body weight (125 mg for 50 kg) at a time twice a day. The dosage will be decreased 1 mg/kg of the body weight (50 mg for 50 kg) a day every 1 month if the effect appears. The standard maintenance dosage is 3 mg/kg of the body weight (150 mg for 50 kg) a day. The dosage may be adjusted according to the symptoms.
Aplastic anemia, pure red cell aplasia: In general, take 3 mg of the active ingredient /kg of the body weight (150 mg for 50 kg) at a time twice a day. The dosage may be adjusted according to the conditions.
Nephrotic syndrome (frequent recurrence type): In general, for adults take 0.75 mg of the active ingredient /kg of the body weight (37.5 mg for 50 kg) at a time, for children take 1.25 mg of the active ingredient /kg of the body weight (25 mg for 20 kg) at a time, twice a day. The dosage may be adjusted according to the symptoms.
Nephrotic syndrome (steroid resistance): In general, for adults take 1.5 mg of the active ingredient /kg of the body weight (75 mg for 50 kg) at a time, for children take 2.5 mg of the active ingredient /kg of the body weight (50 mg for 20 kg) at a time, twice a day. The dosage may be adjusted according to the symptoms.
General type myasthenia gravis: In general, take 2.5 mg of the active ingredient /kg of the body weight (125 mg for 50 kg) at a time twice a day. The dosage will be decreased gradually if the effect appears. The standard maintenance dosage is 3 mg/kg of the body weight (150 mg for 50 kg) a day. The dosage may be adjusted according to the symptoms.
Atopic dermatitis: In general, for adults, take 1.5 mg of the active ingredient /kg of the body weight (75 mg for 50 kg) at a time twice a day. The dosage may be adjusted according to the symptoms as far as it does not exceed 5 mg/kg of the body weight (250 mg for 50 kg) a day.
The preparation contains 25 mg of the active ingredient in a capsule.

Cautions
-
If you have previously experienced any allergic reactions (itch, rash, etc.) to any medicines.
If you have: neuro-Behcet's disease, renal dysfunction, liver dysfunction, infection, malignant tumor or history of it.
If you have atopic dermatitis with active herpes simplex infection.
If you are pregnant, possibly pregnant or breastfeeding.
If you are taking any other medicinal products. (Some medicines may interact to enhance or diminish medicinal effects. Beware of over-the-counter medicines and dietary supplements as well as other prescription medicines.)
Blood level should be measured once a month as an indication in order to protect onset of adverse reaction.
Renal histologic test should be performed during long-term use more than 1 year for nephrotic syndrome. Receive the test on your designated date and time.
Keep in mind to cleanly wash your hands frequently, gargle and brush your teeth to avoid infection due to suppressed immunity.
Avoid taking grapefruit juice, it may intensify medicinal effects.
Avoid taking any food containing Saint John's wort (a kind of herb), it may diminish medicinal effects.
Keep out of the reach of children. Store away from direct sunlight, heat and moisture. Store in a PTP package until just before taking, the capsule may soften by moisture absorption.
Discard the remainder. Do not store them. Consult with the pharmacy that you have received your medicine or medical institution about disposal.
If you are scheduled to receive vaccination, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.

Contraindication
-
The most commonly reported adverse reactions include rash, increased blood pressure, anemia, nausea, hirsutism, tremor (trembling of limbs), tinnitus, muscle pain and gum hyperplasia. If any of these symptoms occur, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
The symptoms described below are rarely seen as initial symptoms of the adverse reactions indicated in brackets. If any of these symptoms occur, stop taking this medicine and see your doctor immediately.
general convulsion, conscious disorder, visual disorder [central nervous system disorder such as reversible posterior leukoencephalopathy syndrome, hypertensive encephalopathy etc.]
fever, breathing difficulty, rash [infection]
upper abdominal severe pain, fever, dry mouth [acute pancreatitis]
bleeding tendency, get tired easily, edema [thrombotic microvascular disorder, hemolytic anemia, thrombocytopenia]
muscle pain, lassitude, reddish brown urine [rhabdomyolysis]
