This medicine promotes sodium/water excretion and supresses potassium excretion in the kidney to increase the urine volume. This will eliminate extra body fluid, lower blood pressure and reduce body swelling.
It is usually used to treat the hypertension, cardiac edema(congestive heart failure), hepatic edema, renal edema etc. It is also used for the diagnosis and improvement of the symptoms in primary aldosteronism.

Usage/Dosage

In general, for adults, take 2 to 4 tablets (50 to 100mg of the active ingredient) a day, in divided doses. The dosage may be adjusted according to disease, age and symptoms of the patient. Strictly follow the instructions.
If you miss a dose, take a dose as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and follow your regular dosing schedule. You should never take two doses at one time.
If you accidentally take more than your prescribed dose, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor instructs you to do so.

Precautions while taking this medicine
This medicine may cause dizziness etc. due to decreased blood pressure. Be aware of operating in potentially hazardous activities such as driving a car and working at heights.

Contraindication

The most commonly reported adverse reactions include rash, hives, malaise, itch and gynecomastia. If any of these symptoms occur, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
The symptoms described below are rarely seen as initial symptoms of the adverse reactions indicated in brackets. If any of these symptoms occur, stop taking this medicine and see your doctor immediately.
arrhythmia, general malaise, weakness [electrolyte abnormality(hyperkalemia, hyponatremia, metabolic acidosis etc.)]
decreased urine output, swelling of extremities and face, general malaise [acute renal failure]
high fever, bloodshot eyes, erythema [toxic epidermal necrolysis, mucocutaneous-ocular syndrome]
