This medicine suppresses the action of substances such as histamine and inflammatory materials that cause allergic symptoms, and relieves hypersensitivity of respiratory tract and nasal mucosa.
It is usually used to treat bronchial asthma, allergic rhinitis, eczema/dermatitis, hives and cutaneous pruritus. However, it is not a medicine for relief of asthmatic attack and symptoms which has already developed.

Usage/Dosage

Your dosing schedule prescribed by your doctor is (( to be written by a healthcare professional))
In general, for children, take 0.15 mL/kg (0.03 mg/kg of ketotifen) at a time, twice a day, after breakfast and before bedtime. The dosage may be adjusted according to the age and symptoms of the patient. Standard daily dosage by age are: 4 mL (0.8 mg) for children at aged 6 months or over but under 3 years, 6 mL (1.2 mg) for at aged 3 or over but under 6 years and 10 mL (2.0 mg) for at aged 7 years or over. For infants under 1 year, the dosage is determined according to the weight and symptoms of the patients. Strictly follow the instructions.
DO NOT use this medicine besides oral administration. Take this medicine immediately after opening the package and discard the liquid left in the package.
Read the instruction, <患者さんへ (For the patients)>, about the way to open the package (This instruction is written only in Japanese).
If you miss a dose, take a dose as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and follow your regular dosing schedule. You should never take two doses at one time.
If you accidentally take more than your prescribed dose, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor instructs you to do so.
Babies and infants may show excessive excitement after taking this medicine. Take extra care and watch their conditions after taking this medicine.

Cautions

The following patients may need to be careful when using this medicine.
Be sure to tell your doctor and pharmacist.
If you have previously experienced any allergic reactions (itch, rash, etc.) to any medicines or foods.
If you have epilepsy or a history of it.
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
If you are taking any other medicinal products. (Some medicines may interact to enhance or diminish medicinal effects. Beware of over-the-counter medicines and dietary supplements as well as other prescription medicines.)
Precautions while taking this medicine
This medicine may cause sleepiness. Avoid operating in potentially hazardous activities such as driving a car.
Intake of alcohol may cause sleepiness. Refrain from drinking alcohol while taking this medicine.

Storage conditions and other information
Keep out of the reach of children. Store away from light, heat and moisture.
Discard the remainder. Do not store them.

Contraindication
-
The most commonly reported adverse reactions include frequent urination, miction pain, hematuria, cystutus-like symptom such as residual urine, edema, erythema multiforme, rash, hives, transient loss of consciousness and sleepiness. If any of these symptoms occur, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
The symptoms described below are rarely seen as initial symptoms of the adverse reactions indicated in brackets. If any of these symptoms occur, stop taking this medicine and see your doctor immediately.
sudden onset of muscle contraction, uneasiness, consentration loss[convulsion, excitation]
general malaise, loss of appetite, yellowing of the skin and the white of eyes[liver dysfunction, jaundice]
