  • Description
      This medicine inhibits hypoxia inducible factor prolyl hydroxylase (HIF-PH) to boost erythropoietin which stimulates hematopoietic cells that promote red blood cell production. It consequently increases the number of red blood cells and improves anemia.
      It is usually used to treat renal anemia.

  • Usage/Dosage
      For patients with chronic kidney disease but not on dialysis and untreated by erythropoiesis stimulating agent:
      In general, for adults, take 2 mg or 4 mg of the active ingredient at a time, once a day. Thereafter, the dosage may be adjusted according to the condition. The maximum daily dose is 24 mg.
      For patients with chronic kidney disease but not on dialysis and switching from erythropoiesis stimulating agent:
      In general, for adults, take 4 mg of the active ingredient at a time, once a day. Thereafter, the dosage may be adjusted according to the condition. The maximum daily dose is 24 mg.
      For dialysis patients:
      In general, for adults, take 4 mg of the active ingredient at a time, once a day. Thereafter, the dosage may be adjusted according to the condition. The maximum daily dose is 24 mg.
      This preparation contains 6 mg of the active ingredient in a tablet. In any case, strictly follow the instructions.

      If you miss a dose, take the missed dose as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and follow your regular dosing schedule. You should never take two doses at one time.

      If you accidentally take more than your prescribed dose, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.

      Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor instructs you to do so.
  • Cautions
      Precautions while taking this medicine

      Periodical blood tests to measure concentrations of hemoglobin, etc. will be performed.
      You need to take iron to get an adequate efficacy. If you are prescribed iron preparation, you should take it as instructed by your doctor.
  • Contraindication
      The most commonly reported adverse reactions include retinal bleeding, hypersensitivity (rash, dermatitis, hives) and hypertension. If any of these symptoms occur, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
      The symptoms described below are rarely seen as initial symptoms of the adverse reactions indicated in brackets. If any of these symptoms occur, stop taking this medicine and see your doctor immediately.
