This medicine acts on estrogen receptor of breast cancer cell to suppress estrogen action and growth of cancer cell.
It is usually used to treat breast cancer.
Usage/Dosage
〇 General dosage:
● For adults, take 2 tablets (20mg of tamoxifen) a day, in 1 to 2 divided doses.
● The dosage may be adjusted according to symptoms of the patient.
● DO NOT exceed the daily maximum dosage, 4 tablets (40mg). Strictly follow the instructions.
〇 If you miss a dose, take a dose as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and follow your regular dosing schedule. You should never take two doses at one time.
〇 If you accidentally take more than your prescribed dose, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
〇 Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor instructs you to do so.
Cautions
Contraindication
● The most commonly reported adverse reactions are following symptoms. If any of these symptoms occur, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
- amenorrhea, menstrual abnormality, genital bleeding, nausea, vomiting, anorexia, hot flash and flushing.
● The symptoms described below are rarely seen as initial symptoms of the adverse reactions indicated in brackets. If any of these symptoms occur, stop taking this medicine and see your doctor immediately.
- reduced visual acuity, blurred vision [vision abnormality/disturbance]
- local pain/tenderness, erythema, edema [thromboembolism, phlebitis]
- genital bleeding, menstrual abnormality (hypermenorrhea, lower abdominal/low back pain, etc.), menstrual irregularity [uterine fibroid, endometrial polyp, endometrial hyperplasia, endometriosis]
- fever, dry cough, respiratory distress [interstitial pneumonia]
- swelling around eyelid/lip, rash, shortness of breath [anaphylactoid symptoms, angioedema]
