Description

This medicine suppresses secretion of gastric acid and pepsin by selectively blocking H2 receptors on the parietal cells of the gastric mucosa.
It is usually used to treat gastric ulcer, duodenal ulcer, anastomotic ulcer, Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, reflux esophagitis and upper gastrointestinal bleeding, and to improve gastric mucosal lesions in patients with acute gastritis or acute exacerbation of chronic gastritis.

Effect/Efficacy

This medicine suppresses secretion of gastric acid and pepsin by selectively blocking H2 receptors on the parietal cells of the gastric mucosa.
It is usually used to treat gastric ulcer, duodenal ulcer, anastomotic ulcer, Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, reflux esophagitis and upper gastrointestinal bleeding, and to improve gastric mucosal lesions in patients with acute gastritis or acute exacerbation of chronic gastritis.

Usage/Dosage

For gastric ulcer, duodenal ulcer : In general, for adults, take 2 tablets (400 mg of the active ingredient) at a time, twice a day, after breakfast and before bedtime. The dosage may be changed to 1 tablet (200 mg) at a time, 4 times a day, after meals and before bedtime or 4 tablets (800 mg) at a time, once a day, before bedtime.
For anastomotic ulcer, Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, reflux esophagitis, upper gastrointestinal bleeding: In general, for adults, take 2 tablets (400 mg of the active ingredient) at a time, twice a day, after breakfast and before bedtime. The dosage may be changed to 1 tablet (200 mg) at a time, 4 times a day, after meals and before bedtime.
For the improvement of gastric mucosal lesions in patients with acute gastritis or acute exacerbation of chronic gastritis: In general, for adults, take 1 tablet (200 mg of the active ingredient) at a time, twice a day, after breakfast and before bedtime. The dosage may be changed to 2 tablets (400 mg) at a time, once a day, before bedtime.
In any case, the dosage may be adjusted according to the disease, age or symptoms. Strictly follow the instructions.
If you miss a dose, take the missed dose as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose. You should never take two doses at one time.
If you accidentally take more than your prescribed dose, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor instructs you to do so.

Cautions

If you have previously experienced any allergic reactions (itch, rash, etc.) to any medicines.
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
If you are taking any other medicinal products. (Some medicines may interact to enhance or diminish medicinal effects. Beware of over-the-counter medicines and dietary supplements as well as other prescription medicines.)
Keep out of the reach of children. Store away from light, heat and moisture.
Discard the remainder. Do not store them.

Contraindication

The most commonly reported adverse reactions include rash, peripheral neuropathy, gynecomastia, lactation, increase of vaginal discharge, erectile dysfunction and constipation. If any of these symptoms occur, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
The symptoms described below are rarely seen as initial symptoms of the adverse reactions indicated in brackets. If any of these symptoms occur, stop taking this medicine and see your doctor immediately.
general redness, respiratory distress, dizziness [shock, anaphylactoid symptoms]
general malaise, lassitude, subcutaneous/submucosal bleeding [aplastic anemia, pancytopenia, agranulocytosis, decreased platelets]
fever, facial edema, decreased urine output [interstitial nephritis, acute renal failure]
fever, redness and swelling of skin/mucosa with rash or blisters, conjunctival hyperemia [mucocutaneous ocular syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis]
general malaise, loss of appetite, yellow discoloration of the skin and the white of eyes [liver disorder]
